Special Info  Edlyn Mary Simon was born on January 23, 1939 in Island of Spice, Grenada to the late Maggie John and Tim Simon. Edlyn has three sisters Euline Mars, Lynette Ryan (preceded her in death), and Melda Mark (preceded her in death). Edlyn loved to travel, at the age of 21 she decided to leave the home she loved to explore and migrated to the Twin Islands Trinidad and Tobago where she lived for 39 years. While living in Trinidad she gave birth to two daughters Margaret Simon and Ann Simon. In 1990, she then came to America where she lived in Brooklyn, NY until her death. She worked as a seamstress all of her life it was her passion, she loved making clothes and she loved serving the Lord. She was a faithful member at the Bethlehem Church of Christ located at 3104 Clarendon Road in Brooklyn NY. Edlyn was known as the “Mother of the Neighborhood” she had a heart for people and would help sponsor any child for a school trip or a school fundraiser. Many children called her “Grandma” it was nothing for her to open her heart and her home to love on the children in the neighborhood. Edlyn was committed to helping anyone that was in need. She was a true giver, a giver of her time, love, and support. Every year she helped served by feeding the homeless at the Help One Plaza Family Homeless Shelter located on Blake Avenue in Bronxville NY & the Men’s Homeless Shelter on Bedford & Atlantic Ave Brooklyn NY. She will be remember as the “go to person” she was gifted to be a good listener and always saw the good in a person no matter how someone else viewed them. She spoke words of wisdom and encouragement and she had a way of letting you see any situation as a “small thing”. Her heart of gratitude was contagious, you would never see Edlyn in a low place, she always saw a reason to smile her humble spirit will be missed. On Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 10:30 am while in King’s County Hospital the Lord called her home…. her work here on earth was done. She will be missed for the loved she gave, the lives she touched, her words of wisdom and inspiration and the service she provided. Edlyn is survived by her one surviving sister Euline Mars (Canada), one brother-in –law George Mars (Canada), two daughters Margaret Simon and Ann Simon (Brooklyn, NY) , three grandchildren Takis, Kelida and Tresean and one great-granddaughter Maya. A cast of special daughters Ann Marie, Natalie, Audrey and Yvette, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Edlyn Mary Simon………………………………………..........May you rest In Peace!
