Special Info  Lincoln Cyril Collins fondly known as Bato or Bertie to close family and loved ones was born on 7 January 1964. He was the son of Veda Augustina Lewis and Bertie Ah-boo Collins. He was the last born of Veda and Ah-boo’s nine children and therefore the baby of the family. Lincoln firstly grew up in the town of St. George’s at Williamson Road before the family relocated to Grand Anse Valley. At an early age, he showed interests in anything automotive. His father was a butcher and a farmer, which gave him the opportunity to drive cane trucks. He therefore became a mechanic due to early exposure and experience working with all kinds of automobiles. He loved the thrill of swift driving and enjoyed the freedom it brought. Many have memories of him driving motor bikes with skill and precision. He migrated to the US in his early 20s and embarked on his life there with enthusiasm. He fathered his first son Lincoln Junior in 1990 and went on to be a father to four other children, Shannon, Raven, Sierra and Maya. He was a devoted parent and there is nothing he would not have done to ensure their happiness and that they were provided for. Lincoln was also the same type of person to everyone else he came across. He was a jovial, loving and warm person who remains beloved by his children, his siblings, his nieces and nephews, cousins, family friends, employer, employees and co-workers. There is not one person here and back at home who does not share a fond memory of him and his generosity- not just with his resources but also with his time and emotions. He had the heart of a lion; he was a friendly giant and beautiful soul. His impact was great and it is a testament of his kind, and larger than life heart and personality. He was forever joking around and found humour in even the darkest of times. In fact, he barely had negative things to say about anyone despite how badly they hurt him or how much they cost or crossed him. He was positive and one of a kind. His inability to return negativity he received speaks to the lovely person and gem that his was. More than anything else, he was a devout believer in God and his graces, his faith remained unmoved until his passing. He could talk to anyone for ages about parts of the Bible and he could break down scriptures so that anyone can understand the meaning. He was at peace that God, & Jesus had him come what may, and for that, his family gained peace in his untimely passing due to the strength and depth of his faith. My last great memory of him was from this past Christmas season; he came down to Grenada to spend the holidays with his family there. We went driving to the Sulphur Springs, I remembered him enjoying his time, and he spoke of how great he felt to be at home and partake in the natural things the island had to offer. Lincoln loved visiting Grenada; he adored the beach and the laid back pace of the island. His plan, or rather his dream was to retire there in a few years, build a house and more or less live at the beach. Sadly, he was unable to fulfil this but he is now resting and we are thankful for the time we had with him. We continue to cherish his presence and we will hold on to the many memories we all shared as we celebrate his greatness today and always. Rest in Power Uncle Bato you are loved and you are missed immensely.
