CARIBBEAN CONTENT TO BE BEAMED INTO NORTH AMERICAN HOME...
THE Barbados-based Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) is to launch a television channel that will bring the Caribbean into North American homes. Outgoing chairman of the CMC Lester Spaulding announced the pending North American market entry Saturday at a cocktail reception following a meeting of the board of directors at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel. The issue was addressed in his 2000-2004 report, which also outlines achievements recorded by the CMC during Spaulding's five-year tenure as chairman. "Building on that success, the CMC was poised for new beginnings and entered negotiations, and can now happily report that it has been successful in carving out a deal that will see the launching of a Caribbean-based TV channel in North America," Spaulding said. The CMC is a merger of the commercial activities of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) and the Caribbean News Agency (CANA) under a joint board of directors.
