PM MITCHELL TO ADDRESS WORLD CONFERENCE ON DISASTER RED...  
Prime Minister Keith Mitchell was scheduled ot leave Grenada on Saturday (January 15) for Kobe, Japan where he will address the United Nations World Conference on Disaster Reduction, which takes place from January 18 to 22, 2005. The Prime Minister will join other world leaders, on January 19, in a high level round table focussing on the theme: “Emerging risks: what will tomorrow hold?” Prime Minister Mitchell is expected to present Grenada’s experience with respect to the immediate and lingering impact of Hurricane Ivan, which caused extensive damage to the Country’s infrastructure, agricultural base, forest reserves and all revenue-generating sectors on September 7, 2004. The Prime Minister was invited to address the international conference “as the senior authority of a Small Island Developing State” and focus on the emerging threats to low-lying coastal areas and related repercussions for economic activities. Prime Minister Mitchell is scheduled to return to Grenada on Thursday (January 20). Source: Office of the Prime Minister
