SPECIAL AIRLINE RATES AVAILABLE FOR CTO SUSTAINABLE TOU...  
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (March 29, 2005) – Two regional airlines are offering special discounted fares for the seventh Annual Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development (STC-7) to be held in Tobago. The Trinidad and Tobago carrier, BWIA West Indies Airways is providing discounted roundtrip tickets from seven gateways in the US and the Caribbean to Tobago, while the intra-Caribbean carrier, LIAT offers special rates from 15 regional states for the April 26-29 conference. BWIA has confirmed the following preferred round trip fares to delegates as follows: Miami, New York and Washington D.C. - US$299; Antigua - US$175; Barbados - US$118; Guyana - US$100; and Jamaica - US$275. All fares are subject to applicable government service charges and taxes and are valid for travel between April 23 and May 2, 2005. Reservations can be made by calling 1-800-538-2942 or by contacting a local BWIA office. Reference Star File STC07TAB. LIAT’s special rates are available for all STC-7 delegates. Conference participants can book from the following gateways to Tobago: Anguilla - US$284; Antigua - US$167; Barbados - US$120; Dominica - US$167; Guyana - US$187; Grenada - US$63; Nevis - US$251; St. Kitts - US$217; St. Lucia - US$121; St. Maarten - US$236; St. Vincent - US$121; Tortola - US$247; St. Thomas - US$275; St. Croix - US$275; and San Juan - US$285. These fares are also subject to all applicable airport and government taxes. To make a reservation contact a local LIAT office and indicate that it’s for travel to STC-7. Meantime, government officials from member states of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), as well as select travel agents and authorised hoteliers, can benefit from special fares from the US carrier, American Airlines, to attend the conference. The government officials and hoteliers must reference the Star File for CTO Travel, which is CRB TOUR TVL. Travel is to and from the continental United States and the Caribbean, and also within the Caribbean. Reservations can be made by calling 1-866-269-5008. Delegates may also call 1-800-744-0006 or their local American Airlines reservations number and ask to be connected with the sales office in Trinidad to secure the special rates. Travel agents who are members of CTO Chapters, and who have been trained by The Travel Institute (formerly ICTA), and have obtained the Destination Specialist Caribbean certification, as well as agents who have completed the ACCT training course can take advantage of the following reduced airfares: From the US east coast -$175; midwest-$200; and west coast-$250. To make reservations, agents must send their travel request along with their TTI/ICTA or ACCT certificate via fax to the CTO office in New York. All three airlines are allied members of the CTO, which is organising the conference in collaboration with the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) and the government of Trinidad and Tobago.
