AMBASSADOR FLETCHER PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO HIS HAITIAN ...
BRUSSELS, Belgium : Grenada's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union, H.E. Stephen Fletcher on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on his Haitian counterpart, H.E. Raymond Magloire at the Haitian Embassy in Brussels. The courtesy visit was made in light of continuing efforts by the Government and people of Grenada to contribute to the development of Haiti in the aftermath of the destruction caused by the January 12th earthquake. Ambassador Fletcher took the opportunity to express Grenada's continuing commitment to assist, in whatever way possible, in mobilising resources for Haiti. Specifically, Ambassador Fletcher provided his counterpart with efforts spearheaded by Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, in assisting Haiti to date. He reminded Ambassador Magloire of the Prime Minister's early pledge "to put together all available resources, human and material, to assist our sister CARICOM nation at the earliest possible time". In response H.E. Magloire thanked the Grenadian diplomat for his country's support and provided an update on recent efforts by the Haitian authorities and its International partners in restoring Haiti on the path to development. Ambassador Magloire stated that, "although things on the ground remain challenging, more aid is now reaching the people than before". Ambassador Fletcher reiterated Grenada's and his own personal commitment "to work with his colleagues in CARIFORUM and the ACP in ensuring that the funds pledged by the ACP & EU reach Haiti in a timely manner".
