ST. GEORGE NORTH EAST FOOTBALL UPDATE - 30TH MAY 2010

Low keyed start to St. George North East (SGNE) U -16 competition. The rain threatened all day but stayed away from the official opening of the SGNE 2010 Under-16 competition. The problem was that most teams stayed away also. Youngsters and officials from Brothers United and Vendome Marvelites attended and after some brief remarks from Messrs. Lester Smith, Ken Campbell and Carl Phillip an exhibition game was played to mark the opening. Competitive games will commence on Saturday 5th June. Teams are reminded that participation in U 16 is a necessary condition for progress to the later stages of the senior competition. *Current point standing in the SGNE 2010 open competition* Teams from New Hampshire top the point standing as at 30th May. Brothers United lead the pack with ten points from four (4) matches. Hampshire United and Red Out both also of New Hampshire are locked on nine (9) points each together with Vendome Marvelites. Red Out has played only two (2) matches, Hampshire United three (3) and Vendome Marvelites four (4) matches respectively. Legacy Valley Beaulieu occupies the fifth slot with seven (7) points from four (4) matches. The top five teams all earned three (3) points for appropriate participation in the march pass unlike the bottom three. Tempe All Blacks, St. George U 20 and Boca Strikers are all locked on three(3) points. They have played two (2), three (3) and four (4) games respectively. The top four teams qualify for the knock out phase of the competition. Red Out of New Hampshire is currently the only team with a perfect record;obtaining all points on offer. On Monday, Vendome Marvelites will host Brothers United at Vendome.
