MURDER ACCUSED MAKES FIRST COURT APPEARANCE AT GRENVILL...
click
GRENVILLE, June 7, 2010 - Thirty year old Winston ‘Poonsin’ Murray of Mt. Horne, St. Andrew’s made his first court appearance at the Grenville Magistrate’s Court this morning to answer charges related to the (alleged rape) and murder of twenty-nine year old Keisha Romain, also a resident of Mt. Horne. A large crowd of irate persons gathered outside the court house and shouts of ‘criminal’, ‘murderer’ and ‘rapist’ were hurled at Murray as the policemen escorted him to and from the courthouse. The murder of Keisha Romain, which is believed to have taken place sometime around Wednesday night or early Thursday morning last week, sent shockwaves throughout the Mt. Horne, Paraclete and the surrounding communities, as people commented on the wonderful person Keisha was and wondered who could have committed such a horrific crime. Initially, her boyfriend was picked up for questioning but was subsequently released. The other shocking news for residents of Mt. Horne was that Winston Murray was picked up by the policemen and charged with the dreadful murder. Murray has been a vibrant member of one of the churches in the area and has been involved in Christian outreach activities. The rumor in the Mt. Horne community is that Murray was allegedly in church sometime Wednesday afternoon, supposedly hours before the murder was committed, praying in a very devout manner. The policemen would have carried Murray to the scene of the crime - at an area of farmland close to the Paraclete Playing Field - over the past few days, possibly to acquire valuable information and additional evidence. There is presently a lot of pain and suffering in the area as families of both victim and accuser try to come to terms with what has taken place last week. Keisha Romain was the mother of two children who were very close to her and she cared for them and loved them very much. She is described by persons in the area as one who was quiet, helpful and was never involved in any altercations. She worked as an assistant teacher at the Paradise Pre-school during the IMANI program and up until her death, she worked with a relative at a shop. She was also said to be an excellent hair-dresser, even though she never attended cosmetology school. Murray was not represented by a lawyer and was remanded to the Richmond Hill Prisons until his next court appearance on June 23, 2010.

Some of our people-Grenadians and socal Black folk are proned and conditioned to turning the other way whenever they see injustice being done to others...as long as it's nt me I don't care. Sometimes things happen to some of us because God wants to stop us from being too self-centered and selfish...as long as NDC can keep me employed I don't give a damn thing about Mr. Joe...be he NNP or NDC. People, it's not all about you...it's about a community of people...when you talk about Grenada as being a beautiful country with different spices, have you ever consider that Grenada in itself is not a country without its people? We must eradicate our political biases and let live as we live. Unfortunately, If nothing else, I must say that I admire thae fact that Dudus, irrepective of the outstanding charges levied against him played more of a politician role in taking care of Tivoli Gardens. Can you imagine if our politicians would ensure that every child within their constituency receives an education, has food to eat, parents are working and able to care for their children, people feel safe to move about...no one is raped and murdered...these were some of the things according to one article in the Jamaican Observer that Dudus was doing. He more or less played a greater role in ensuring that his constituency's basic needs were met-food, clothing, shelter, love and security.

Some years ago, not too far from where this young lady was sexually assaulted and murdered, two grown men in their late 20s and 30s kidnapped and sexually assaulted and raped a 12 year old child for an entire day. The poor child was sent on an errand by her parens (to buy an 1/8 of oil and 1/4 lb saltfish)prior to her going to school. When they had had enough of the child innocence they threw her through 100ft high window into some hedges. The little girl could not have screamed because they would have killed her...with blood drenching all over her, she crawed out of the hedges and finally found herself safely in her mother's arms...Unfortunately, since Grenada had no child protection laws...resources to help victims of such a crime and parents of those victims were unheard off...no police protection (access to law enforcement took many hours if not days)...no one's willing enough to jeopardize their own security to assist the family...others saw them as too low on the scialeconomic sttata in the community---to lend support...no activist within the community to champion her cause...the parents more or less were as vulnerable as the child...they're poor and struggling people...they were the darker shaded ones (yes, deniers, we sure are prejudice one to another...Grenada is as prejudice, ethnocitric an racist as anywhere else).Just for your knowledge: Racism is not a WHITE & BLACK phenomenon. I's in your blood...it's up to you to reject or tolerate it. Now back to the story: After the police got involved in the sodomy and rape, the 2 men were arrested and rleased on bail. Since their parents (the bullies, pediaphiles, rapists, good for nothings)had worth (a concrete house, land and family abroad), knew a few politicians on the island they were able spare their children from jail time and suffering the consequence of their action or the injustice and criminal acts against an innocent child. These men freedom for the injustice done to a child, her family, community and society alarge were bought because their parents had political connections and the financial means to buy itno our legal system. But guess what, injustice never goes unpaid...injustice anywhere, is injustice everywhere. God will always render justice wherever and whenever humans have willfully ruled against it. Today both men are suffering from some sort of mental or devilish challenge. Unfortunately, the victim who is grown now walks with an everlasting limp which she suffered from the incident...finds herself in abusive relationships, both verbally and phsically (very abusive men-even the government under Dr. Mitchell had to intervene on her behalf). This young girl is still trapped in and adult boby and suffers socially, psychologically, intellectually and economically. Therefore JOAN, let it be known that most of our politicians do have a price...some of them would rather compromise their people's security for their immediate gratification...they can be bought and sold. As long as the price is RIGHT. In fact, some of them would give-in to anything if someone would only speak their (the politicians) language (show me the money, give me some of what you have between your...). Politics is a principle. Politicains have a moral responsibility to their constituents. I am a born Grenadian and I have seen it all. It's the obligation of the government to ensure the basic rights of the people are upheld and enforced. That's why we elect a prime minister and his cabinet. Our people will continue to suffer, the crime rate will continue to rise, cost of living would would continue to skyrock...simply because our elected officials are not investing in the people and country. The people are also responsible for their plights. They tend to recycle and accept the same type of people with the same sort of behavior. When will we decide who to vote people into office on the basis of "ISSUES" ....what you can do for my community and country to make it socially, economically, educationally, culturally and spiritually sound for mus all? Instead we focus on what Mr. Allen Walker or Nazim Burke did for me a year ago...Nazim bought us a bottle of rum when he passed thru last year. We must vote for him. Allen Walker gave two week's work on the road the last 5 yrs he's in power. Therefoe, me and all my family members and friends are voting for him. We need to educate and move our people away from this mindset.

telling him to give the evidence to those in charge is like calling for his head and his family head on a platter, why don't you ask him to post a picture of himself and his family instead? People will know for wrong things others said and is afraid to report it,because it could be them next. In a country where people do things for no apparent reason, like cutting out necks,or likewise.

Damon you have a solid debate going on there and you are on the right side of things,You are not a person who will wait for injustice to happen to you to say it as it is I am sorry but Joan sound like a person who have been bought and sold for a pesos, she can't see straight because her famalies maybe have high position in government,so what? Nothing she says make this wrong things right.

I think if you're following the media as I am you would have been privileged to the information that I am commenting on. I challenge you to read the informer and other medium of information here in Grenada. I specidically referenced the bus parking lot murder...a premediatated killing of a young man...the sentence rendered to the villain/victimizer of the decease should have been given a life sentence...to plunge a knife into someone's heart, especially when it's repeatedly done is premediatated and inexcusable. As usual, if you have got money to bribe from the police to the highest rank of the justice system, connected to a reknown family, political ties you can get away with almost every and any thing. Sista, I have seen kids of single poor/ parents being molested/raped and nothing came off it. The rapists/molesters/pediphiles were able to escape justice simply because their families were able to pay of members of the justice system, or pull some sort of political strings to have the case(s) drawn out or thrown out. I challenge you to do the research.
