ST GEORGE'S, June 27, 2010 - Red Out defeated fellow villagers Hampshire United by two goals to one to win the SGNE Constituency knockout at Horeb on Sunday.
In a game, witnessed by a crowd in excess of one thousand spectators as part of the SGNE Constituency day celebrations, Red Out maintained their unbeaten
run for this season.
The crowd included the great and the good of SGNE with representatives from the field of sports, culture, business, religion and politics.
Ian Baptiste of Hampshire United was penalised twice in the first half for handling the ball in the penalty area.
Rowe Murrell was entrusted with the resulting spot kick on both occasions. He scored the first penalty but was denied in his second attempt by goal keeper Denrol Jules.
The first half ended one goal to nil in favour of Red Out.
Hampshire United equalised midway in the second half courtesy of a penalty from Troy Frank after Rowe Murrell handled in the area.
This set up a tense finale as both sides pushed for the win with Kelly Alexander settling the issue in favour of the still unbeaten Red Out late in the piece.
It was then left for the legendary Tyronne "Sampat" Harbin to present prizes to the winners in the presence of Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, Parliamentary Representative Nazim Burke and a host of dignitaries.
