Hillsborough, Carriacou, July 16th, 2010- The people of Carriacou are in receipt of a collection of books, courtesy of the Government of India. The delivery of the motivational books, written by Mahatma Gandhi, was made through Indian High Commissioner, Malay Mishra, who visited Carriacou in January. Gandhi, born October 2, 1869, became one of the most spiritual and political leaders of India in the 1900s. He was a key figure in the Indian independence movement that freed the country from British rule. Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, Senator George Prime, made the book presentation to acting librarian, Euslyn Alexis, on behalf of the High Commissioner. Minister Prime, in brief remarks, expressed appreciation at the level of cooperation developing between India and Carriacou. Among Indian assistance promised to Carriacou is collaboration for the improvement of the boat building industry and water development. By Deanna Isaac Carriacou
