TAWU THREATENS TO TAKE INDUSTRIAL ACTION
click
The industrial relations between the Technical and Allied Workers’ Union (TAWU), the bargaining agent for the workers at the Grenada Distillers Limited, and the management of the company seems to be deteriorating rapidly and has escalated into the picketing of the company by workers. Yesterday (January 05), President General of TAWU, Senator Chester Humphrey, informed the nation that Grenada Distillers had sent home eight workers of the business enterprise for allegedly refusing to sign a personalized employment contract put forward by the company without consultation with the union, which is the legal bargaining agent for the workers. He hinted that if the matter was not correctly addressed by the company, TAWU will embark on industrial action, which can see some disruption in the country’s economic activities.
