At around 04:15 am on Sunday 27th June 2010, Officers from the Central Police Station on the Carenage St. George’s, responded to a report that the body of a male person was seen floating in the sea water on the Carenage. On arrival, the body of a male person was seen and removed from the sea water, then carried to the General Hospital, where it was pronounced to be dead.
The body was later identified to be that of Atiba Ghatt Mc. Millan, a 29 year old resident of Grand Anse St. George.
Preliminary investigations by Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department revealed that there were multiple marks of violence on the body of the deceased.
A post mortem was conducted on Monday 28th June 2010, and the matter is being treated as a homicide.
Meanwhile investigations into the circumstances that led to the death of Mc Millan, and the apprehension of person and/or persons responsible for same are continuing.
The Police are seeking the cooperation and assistance of the general public in this regard.

As much as you're tired of the criminal activities, especially the gruesome taking of lives of our young people, the situation will never change until our court system decides to take a decisive role at rendering harsh sentences.
It's unfortunate that our justice system no longer works for law abiding citizens. In fact, it appears as though crime pays in our country. Take for example, some members of the Gang of 17 were released from prison and later employed by the government at lucrative salaries. Another prime example is the guy who premeditatedly and viciously killed the young man in the bus terminal. He premeditated the crime...Stabbed the young man multiple times until he died. How many years did he get for the gruesome murder? 2 to 5 yrs. Unless the people demand changes in the court system, pressure our government, carry out peaceful and mass public demonstrations, violent crimes will continue to be on the rise.
