Grenada's electoral officials confirmed on Wednesday that voters would not be allowed to carry cell phones into the polling booths when they go to elect a new government on July 8.
Elections Supervisor Nordica McIntyre said the devise would be banned because it could be used to influence voters.
The Election Office also plans to launch a campaign aimed at educating voters on the measures to be adopted on Election Day.
Chairman of the Grenada Carnival Committee Thomas Mathews said the campaign for the general election has been overshadowing first round activities for Carnival 2008.
