October 4th, 2010: Members of Her Majesty’s Opposition have expressed serious concerns about the lack of clarity in relation to the electoral process and the general perception that the Government may be putting systems in place to manipulate the process. Opposition Leader, Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell therefore calls on the Organisation of American States to take a keen interest in the process leading up to the next general elections to ensure that the process is transparent and fair and that our democracy is preserved. Dr. Mitchell made this call when the Assistant Secretary General of the OAS, Ambassador Ramdeen paid a courtesy call on the Opposition Leader, accompanied by the local OAS Representative. Dr. Mitchell headed a three member team comprising Parliamentary Representative for St. Andrew North East Hon. Roland Bhola and former Minister for Education Ms. Clarice Charles. According to Dr. Mitchell, the Government’s decision to replace the Supervisor of election who was commended by international organisations after the last general elections, continues to be suspicious. He said it is very unusual to change a supervisor of elections before they reach retirement age or to replace that person with a junior civil servant who is known to have been a political activist. The former Prime Minister also raised concerns that the replacement of senior officers in the Electoral Office is also a cause for concern as these officers would have been needed to give support to a new supervisor. Hon. Bhola informed the meeting that he recently met with the Supervisor and is extremely troubled that there seems to be a lack of information on what is really happening with regard to the electoral process and apparent plans to make changes in the near future. He said the lack of involvement of political parties particularly the main opposition in the process also leave many unanswered question about the intention of the NDC Administration. Concerns were also raised by the former Education Minister about the lack of public education on the new system which is supposed to be implemented in October 2010 and the many challenges that this system is likely to create. The meeting concluded with a request from the Ambassador for the local Representative to hold discussions with the Supervisor of Elections in an effort to be updated on the proposed changes in the electoral process. Hangman, thanks for reminding me but I am fully aware of that. Our issue with our own folk dates back to Jesus and the very day our African ancestors decided to sell each other into slaver. Jesus was never accepted or welcome by his only community. He did not have a name (poor beginning). Joseph, his father was just a simply carpenter...his family did not fit into the status quo. As a Grenadian, I felt the animosity for being different. Unfortunately, I don't hold the same view as others. I believe in social justice and saying it as is. I have experienced the crabs in the barrel aggression, hate, envy, jealousy, accusations, judgment...but guess what...I understand and aware of the miseducation and kitchen-field slave mentality. Our country will forever be a regressive state unless the few of us can bind together and contiunue speak up for economic, social, political, education...development of our people. It's going to be difficult, but we have already started the campaign...right here on Grenadaconnection.com. Power to Neil. Power to the People!

GOOD LUCK DAMOND,WHEN A FRIEND COMES THEY TAKE HIM FOR AN ENEMY AND WHEN AN ENEMY COMES THEY TAKE HIM FOR A FRIEND.WHAT YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND IS THAT YOU AND I AND A FEW WILL UNDERSTAND THAT,BUT THE MASSES IS DUMB DOWN SO THAT THEY CANNOT SEE PAST THEIR NOSE.LOOK ALLEN WALKER THERE IS NOTHING YOU OR I CAN SAY THAT WILL PRICK THE CONCIOUSNESS OF THESE PEOPLE NOT FOR THEIR BETTERMENT.DO YOU SEE WHAT YOU UP AGAINST?LOOK AT THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM HERE IT IS MORE OF A CONSUMER MENTALITY RATHER THAN A PRODUCER MENTALITY,THEY RELY ON THE GOVERNMENT TO PRODUCE JOBS FOR THEM RATHER THAN AN INNOVATION MENTALITY.THE GOVERNMENT DOESNOT HAVE JOBS,THEY ARE BEGGING TOM,DICK AND HARRY.THE CROOKS AND SHARKS ARE CIRCLING THEY KNOW THAT THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH MURDER.DAMOND IT IS TIME THAT SOME OF THESE POLITICANS PUT IN PRISON FOR THEIR CRIMES,THEY SHOULD HAVE AN INDEPENDENT PANEL TO INVESTIGATE THOSE CRIMES AND MAKE RECOMMENDATION FOR PROSECUTION,ONLY THEN WE MAY SEE SOME ACCOUNTABILITY.

The political climate and process of our country will never change unless we the people have changed out ways of seeing the world around us...dependency on others to make decisive choices and decisions for us would forever impede our progress...we need to stop looking at the outside of our people to determine whether or not they can be effective...let's concentrate on the content of their characters, their track records, how effective they have used the ignorance of a people...the giving away of chickens, cow heads, sheep, goats, a few days work on the road (once in every 5 yr cycle), a bottle of rum for the boys in the rum shop, a job for a family member, a fete for the hungry boys in order to win their votes...people, we must educate each other to think on the iussues-how these guys decisive actions and indecisiveness have affected our lives, community and country...we have got move away from what Keith Mitchell or Tillman Thomas did for me a year ago and pay attention to the bigger picture...or community and country. We can regain "Power to the People" when and only if we revolutionize our thought processes.
