click
The National Drug Control Secretariat in the Ministry of Education continues its drive to ensure that the Nation’s young people are accurately informed about the destructive effects of a wide variety of drugs. One of the Secretariat’s recent initiatives is an exceptionally informative poster, which outlines the self-destructive effects of alcohol, tobacco nicotine, caffeine, marijuana, steroids, cocaine, Ecstasy, LSD, barbiturates, amphetamines, heroin and inhalants. The poster gives details as to the signs of intoxication and withdrawal symptoms, with particular emphasis being placed on the effects of chronic abuse with respect to mind and behaviour, central nervous system, heart and blood, brain, head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, liver, stomach, kidneys, gastrointestinal system, bones and muscles, immune system, sexual organs and the fetus. The National Drug Control Secretariat will commence a series of Public Education Campaigns as well as the distribution of posters in the coming weeks. UNESCO and the Drug Control Secretariat are funding the programme. Source: Ministry of Education
