FINANCE MINISTER BRIEFS MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT ON THE EC...  
Last Thursday (January 13) Minister of Finance Anthony Boatswain and senior officials of the Ministry of Finance, updated Members of Parliament on the current state of the local economy. The meeting was very interactive and covered a wide range of economic issues with particular focus on post Hurricane Ivan levels of economic activity and the major challenges facing the Country. There were significant discussions on Grenada’s reconstruction programme, with particular focus on: Employment generation Restructuring the Public Debt The restoration and sustainability of the Agricultural sector for long term employment Organisation of the Construction sector to realize its growth potential National management policies Participants agreed that the meeting was very useful and a basis for further dialogue on key economic issues. It was agreed that these sessions would be held on a more regular basis. Over the next few weeks, the Ministry of Finance intends to make similar presentations to various stakeholders including the National Council for Reconstruction & Development, the business community, the Sustainable Development Council, Public Officers and the insurance and banking sectors.
