GRENADIAN RETAINED ON WINDIES WOMEN'S SQUAD FOR WORLD C...  
Lewis retained on Windies Squad for World Cup PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, Jan 24 - Grenadian Debbie-Ann Lewis has been included in the West Indies Women’s team for the 2005 Women’s World Cup in South Africa in March and April. The team was selected on Saturday at the conclusion of the training camp by a four-member panel that included Ann Browne, coach; Stephanie Power, captain; Raphael Croney, a West Indies Cricket Board coach; and Rita Scott, WICB Coach and former vice captain. Lewis is expected to be sponsored by the Grenada Government. The West Indies Women’s Cricket Federation has been facing problems in raising funds for the tournament. It therefore, asked the regional governments to stand the cost of players from their respective countries. The selected players for the tour to South Africa are Stephanie Power, Nelly Williams, Envis Williams, Felicia Cummings, Kirbyina Alexander, Anisha Mohammed and Shane DeSilva of Trinidad and Tobago; Debbie-Ann Lewis of Grenada; Nadine George, Verena Felicien and Phillippa Thomas of St Lucia; Cordell Jack and Juliana Nero of St Vincent and the Grenadines; Indomatie Goordial of Guyana; and Pamela Lavine of Barbados. The technical staff will comprise of Cinda Bobb as manager; Neil Lashley, the trainer and Ann Browne-John, the coach. The team will come together again from February 19 for a training camp, a week each in Trinidad and Barbados before leaving for South Africa on March 6. Reprinted from grenadasports.com
