Five Grenadians have begun studies at the Metropolitan College of New York. The scholarships were made available to the Government of Grenada following a request from Prime Minister Keith Mitchell to the President of the College Stephen Greenwald. The students were officially welcomed to the College on Thursday January 20th, 2005 by President Greenwald in the presence of Ambassador Ruth Elizabeth Rouse, former Ambassador Lamuel Stanislaus and Ambassador-at-large, Michael Melnicke, who also serves on the College’s board. The students are enrolled in the following programmes: Alice Lawrence, Jannelle Purcell, Makisha Nelson and Andre Martin – Bachelor in Business Administration and Michelle Moses – Bachelor in Human Services. The students promised to do their best to make Grenada proud and were extremely grateful to President Greenwald and his staff for their warm welcome. The Metropolitan College of New York was founded in 1964 and is recognised for its alternative to traditional higher education models. The curriculum strives to integrate classroom learning with workplace experience. Source: Permanent Mission of Grenada to the United Nations
