SIR ALISTER MCINTYRE UNABLE TO CONTINUE AS ARD CHAIRMAN...
Sir Alister McIntyre has informed Prime Minister Keith Mitchell that unexpected medical developments have prevented him from continuing to serve as Chairman of the Agency for Reconstruction and Development (ARD) Inc. In informing the Prime Minister of the medical developments and his inability to continue as Chairman, Sir Alister expressed appreciation to the Prime Minister and the officials in the Government service “who have been a model of cooperation” during the time he served as Chairman. Prime Minister Keith Mitchell, noting the successful efforts by Sir Alister in initiating the work of the ARD, said the Government and people of Grenada will be eternally grateful for his contribution in ensuring the ARD works closely with the various Government ministries, donor agencies and other non-governmental groups involved in the reconstruction process. “It is with regret that I learned of Sir Alister’s medical complications. The Government and people of Grenada wish him a speedy and full recovery,” the Prime Minister said. As a result of Sir Alister’s inability to continue as Chairman, Interim Chairman of the ARD Board of Directors Mr. Marius St. Rose has agreed to assume the Chairmanship on a temporary basis. Mr. St. Rose, the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Bank of St. Lucia and a former Senior Vice President of the Caribbean Development Bank, is Chairman of the St. Lucia Electricity Company Ltd. and a member of the Board of Directors of LIAT. “In the meantime, the ARD needs to push ahead with its mandate with respect to the reconstruction process,” Prime Minister Mitchell said. The ARD was established in October to coordinate the reconstruction process, following the devastation caused by the passage of Hurricane Ivan in September.
