MARTINIQUE DELEGATION VISITS GRENADA
A delegation from Martinique made a one-day visit to Grenada on Thursday (February 3) to determine what form of technical assistance can be provided to help with the reconstruction of the T.A. Marryshow Community College. The eight-member delegation was headed by President of the Martinique Regional Council Alfred Marie-Jeanne. During a courtesy call to Prime Minister Keith Mitchell, Mr. Marie-Jeanne said that Martinique is willing to play a central role in the development of Grenada’s education system. The delegation also met with Minister of Education Claris Charles and Minister of Communication, Works and Transport Clarice Modeste-Curwen to evaluate the site, discuss the initiative and formalise collaboration between Martinique and Grenada in educational development. The Prime Minister said TAMCC is an ideal location to begin the collaboration between Grenada and Martinique and expressed appreciation, on behalf of the Government and people of Grenada. The President commended the Prime Minister on what he termed rapid restoration of the physical outlook of Grenada following the devastation by Hurricane Ivan. Education and training are priority goals of the Regional Council of Martinique. Source: Government Information Service
