The Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the United Nations Mr. Andreas D. Mavroyiannis, on February 4th 2005, handed over a check in the sum of $20,000 (US) to Ambassador Ruth Elizabeth Rouse, Permanent Representative of Grenada, which represented a symbolic relief contribution of the Republic of Cyprus to the people of Grenada, who were severely affected by Hurricane Ivan in September of 2004. In receiving the donation, Ambassador Rouse conveyed the sincere appreciation of the Government and people of Grenada and requested that the Ambassador convey these sentiments to the Government of the Republic of Cyprus. The Cyprus Permanent Representative is also High Commissioner-Designate of Cyprus to Grenada and is expected to present his Letter of Introduction to the Prime Minister of Grenada shortly. The Permanent Representatives also took the opportunity to discuss possible areas of co-operation between the two countries, especially in the area of tourism.
