THEATRE PRODUCTION TARGETING GRENADIAN YOUTH MOVES TO W...
The new theatre production CHOICES, developed as part of the Youth Centered Drug Abuse and HIV/AIDS Prevention programme, moves to Westerhall Secondary this Friday, February 25th at 3 p.m. More than 300 students from St. David’s Catholic Secondary School, Westerhall Secondary School and the New Life Organisation (NEWLO) located in Petite Bacaye are expected to attend the show. Dianne Roberts, Project Coordinator, said the focus of CHOICES is to promote messages of wise lifestyle choices to young people at the community level, with the overall goal of reaching more young people in a direct and personal way. The production, written by Chris De Riggs and performed by Heritage Theatre Company, is a powerful drama that depicts the challenges faced by young people on a daily basis as they attempt to cope with the temptations of sex and drugs. Centered around two main characters, CHOICES unfolds to reveal one simple truth: choices made today can change one’s life forever. To date, CHOICES has been staged in St. Mark’s, St. Patrick’s and Carriacou with very favourable responses from attending youths and adults. Upcoming shows are planned for St. John’s on March 4th, St. George’s, March 11th and 12th and St. Andrew’s, March 18th and 19th. All youths, parents, guardians and persons interested in youth development are especially encouraged to attend the performances.
