A team of eye doctors from the United States will be in Grenada performing corneal transplants and other sophisticated eye surgery. The ophthalmologists, specialized in corneal transplants will arrive in Grenada this week to perform corneal transplants at the General Hospital. Doctors Robert Fuchigna and Orazio Giliberti were scheduled to arrive from the United States on Saturday 19th March, 2005 and will leave on Tuesday 29th. Corneal transplants are very expensive and sophisticated operations and are not readily available in Grenada. About twenty (20) Grenadians are currently in need of corneal transplants. The Ministry considers corneal transplants a sufficiently major medical and social advancement for the people of Grenada.
