TRAVEL WRITERS FOCUS ON GRENADA'S TOURISM RECOVERY
ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, Thurs. Mar. 24, 2005: Grenada’s ongoing recovery since the passage of Hurricane Ivan in September 2004 is the subject of attention for two international travel writers who are on a one week stay on the island at the invitation of the Grenada Board of Tourism. They are Kevin Spreekmeester of the Toronto Star of Canada and Phillip Stone of Ireland, who is visiting on behalf of CNN Traveler of the United Kingdom. Both publications are planning to update their readers about several aspects of Grenada’s recovery efforts. Officials from the Grenada Board of Tourism say that press trips to Grenada continue to play a vital role in the production of feature stories about the destination. “For this reason the Grenada Board of Tourism maintains emphasis on bringing as many writers as possible to share the word that Grenada is indeed on the mend, and is now well poised to accept leisure visitors,” officials said.
