The Ministry of Education is pleased to announce that six Grenadian students at Midwestern State University were recognized for their outstanding scholastic achievements and received induction into Alpha Chi, the honor society for underclassmen. The Grenadian students made up 15% of the 46 inductees from the entire University. Three other Caribbean Students were also inducted.
The inductees, in the ceremony concluding the fall semester are, Mondell Cuffie, Helyne Frederick, Salesha Patrick, Carla Sylvester and Annette Thomas. Most of these students were previously teachers in Grenada.
Associate Provost, Dr. Robert Clark, noted that Caribbean Students, and particularly Grenadians, have always performed well above the university average.
"Every semester, the students from the Caribbean earn a disproportional amount of the academic honors," said Clark. " It is a compliment to their education system and personal motivation."
Fifteen Grenadians and twenty five other students from the Caribbean are expected to earn degrees from Midwestern State University next month. Winston "Gypsy" Peters will be the guest speaker and performer for the event.
