RECORD NUMBER OF GROUPS REGISTER FOR GLOBAL YOUTH SERVI...  
A total of 61 youth organizations have registered for Global Youth Service Day 2005. With just one week to go before the close of registration more than half of the groups that confirmed their participation in the weekend of activities have officially registered. This is the first time since the Department of Youth Development in the Prime Minister’s Office has been officially named as the National Lead Agency for the event, that the number of groups participating is over 50. The event, which runs from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th April, will see young persons undertaking clean-up and beautification campaigns, food and clothes distributions, drug awareness campaigns and reconstruction of homes for persons who lost theirs as a result of Hurricane Ivan, among other activities. Outstanding projects will be awarded prizes in two categories: Ø School-based groups Ø Church-based/community-based groups First prize is $2,000 towards a community improvement project. Second and third prizes will include trophies and consolation prizes. Outstanding projects will also be recognized at the National Youth Awards.
