SANCHEZ COMMITTED TO THE REBUILDING PROCESS IN GRENADA
Reggae singer Sanchez, who reportedly delivered a commanding performance last weekend in St Georges, Grenada, said he is committed to the rebuilding process of that island following the devastation of Hurricane Ivan. Sanchez and fellow singer Mr Easy performed in Grenada on a show billed as "A Love Consciousness: Harmony Healing of the Nation." "It was quite an experience performing in Grenada. The show was off the chain and the turnout was wonderful. But what I saw there was a bit heartening for me. I have decided to help in the rebuilding process by providing school supplies for two of the elementary schools in St Georges. I was really moved by the whole devastation left behind by the hurricane," Sanchez said. Sanchez said he has completed work on a new album which will be the follow-up to last year's No More Heartaches disc. "The album is coming out shortly. I am also going on a European tour next month, so the fans in Holland, Denmark, Sweden, France and Germany can look out for me to come and spread the word," he said. His son Kevin Jackson Jr, who is now 10 years old, is set to follow in his father's footsteps. "He has started to sing as well, and he does have a lot of potential and I want to help him and give him the best support possible. My family never really supported me on my musical endeavours when I started out," Sanchez said. Sanchez was in the island this past week. He had relocated to Miami a few years ago, but said he was working on being closer to his roots. "I am setting up something for me and my family. I want to be much closer to the roots of the music," he said. With a career spanning almost two decades, numerous albums and hit singles, Sanchez said the greatest feeling for him as an entertainer, was the number of fans that he had accumulated over the years. "When I go all over the world and perform in places where people don't speak a word of English and they call my name, it gives me the greatest feeling," he said.
