The Physical Planning Unit of the Ministry of Finance would like to advise the general public that the demolition of the Providence Mechanic Lodge’s building on the Carenage, St. George’s did not take place on the last weekend of February 2005 as was previously announced by the Ministry of Communications, Works and Transport. A notice was issued to the owners of the building on January 10, 2005. However, technical difficulties prevented the demolition from proceeding as announced. The Unit wishes to assure the general public that everything is being done to have the building demolished within the next month. The public is asked to exercise caution in the area since the building poses a danger to motorists and pedestrians. We regret any inconveniences caused by the delay.
