TIMEPLUS BEATS TV PRESENTS THE WESTERN UNION 2005 CELEB...
New York City will be injected with a heavy dose of Caribbean music, food, beauty, fashion, and notable personalities when TimePlus Beats TV of Channel 66 presents the Western Union Celebrity Weekend – May 13 to 15, 2005. The weekend-long celebration will commence on the evening of Friday, May 13, with the Celebrity Fashion Show at The Base - a recently renovated nightclub located on Empire Boulevard at the corner of Rogers Avenue in Brooklyn. This show will feature designer Jewel Shannon’s work. Shannon is a Caribbean-American designer whose impressively elegant and exotic work has been covered in magazines such as Smooth, Floss, Black Men, and Smooth Girl. Soca artistes Ragga and Inspector are carded to deliver live performances at Friday’s Fashion Show, which will be co-hosted by veteran broadcaster Harold Pysadee, alongside TimePlus Beats TV host Junior George. Other co-hosts at this show will include Steve Austin of Dancehall World and Dragon of Islandmix.com. Several fashion and entertainment industry personalities are expected at this event, as well as at the other weekend activities. The dosage of Caribbean celebrity-filled fun will increase on Saturday, May 14 with the Annual Junior George Birthday Bash and Celebrity Cruise. Last year’s bash and cruise were sold out and this year’s double-header is expected to be even bigger, given the slate of invited artistes and special guests. The cruise will be aboard the luxurious three-storied Sunset Queen, which will depart from the scenic Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn. Boarding time is 10 p.m. sharp. The soca and reggae/dancehall artistes listed as guests include Trinidad’s 2005 Road March King Shurwayne Winchester, Tallpree, Camille, KC Jockey, Ziggy Rankin, Jamesy P, Half Pint, Baby Killa, Taiesha Grell, and Dragon. And to top it off, on Sunday, May 15 a Celebrity Cruise After-Party is scheduled to take place at Café Omar, located at the corner of Clarendon and Nostrand in Brooklyn. Several of New York City’s top DJs will be providing the music, in the company of the celebrities from the two prior events. According to Junior George, one of the organizers of the event, “The after-party is going to be a grand slam finale to a weekend of activities that will not only entertain attendees, but will also more importantly recognize and showcase much of what Caribbean culture offers.” The main sponsor of the Celebrity Weekend is Western Union. Other sponsors include Hardbeatnews.com, CaribPR.com, Hopkins Promotions & Management, Jewel Shannon Designs, Hot 97.1, Century 21’s Edmund Sadio, Yardman Style, Reggae Rags, Footprints Café, Irie Jam Radio, Plush TV, Link Up Media, Islandmix.com, Island Session TV, Dancehall World, CV Magazine, and Grenadianconnection.com.
