BRITISH PUBLISHERS DONATE TEXT BOOKS, FUNDS TO GRENADA  
St. George's: The Ministry of Education has received a donation of text books valued at approximately EC$270,000. The books were donated by a group of British publishers which include Harcourt, Ginn, Rigsby, Heineman, Mc Millian, Nelson Thornes, Cambridge, and Longman. The books were presented to Minister of Education Hon. Claris Charles at a short ceremony at the Ministry of Education yesterday. Representing the group of publishers was Mr. Kurn Roberts of Pearson Education/Longman Publishers. Mr.Roberts said that the group has had a long and fruitful relationship with Grenada and they felt the urgent need to contribute to the rehabilitation of the education sector. Mr. Roberts also presented a cheque in the amount of 2,500 pounds to the Minister of Education to help toward rehabilitation efforts. The funds he said, was money raised by employees at Pearson Education. Minister of Education Hon. Claris Charles took the opportunity to express profound gratitude on behalf of the Government of Grenada. The Hon. Minister was also high in praise of the Curriculum Department in the Ministry of Education. Immediately after the passing of Hurricane Ivan the Curriculum Department worked closely with schools to assess students needs in terms of text books. That list was forwarded to the group of publishers. The books cover a wide range of fields and topics including Information Technology, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Agriculture,Literature, Business Management, Science, Management and Communications.
