Prime Minister Dr. The Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell has said that everyone in the region that wants to acquire a skill should have the resources to do so. Prime Minister Mitchell believes that the Caribbean Knowledge Learning Network will allow persons throughout the region to have more educational opportunities and learning materials. He says that CKLN will dramatically improve the standard of Caribbean education. Prime Minister Mitchell this morning met with Caribbean Knowledge Learning Network Committee member Dr. Dennis Paul and Consultant Candia Alleyne to discuss the progress of the CKLN. Ms. Alleyne told the Prime Minister that the CKLN is currently engaged in strengthening the institutional capacity of its nine pilot tertiary institutions. The CKLN has adopted the Antigua State College, Barbados Community College, University College of Belize, Dominica State College, T.A. Marryshow Community College(Grenada), University of Guyana, Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College(St. Kitts), Sir Arthur Lewis Community College ( St. Lucia), and the Community College of St. Vincent of the Grenadines as its pilot institutions. These institutions will receive an upgrade in their information and communications technology to allow them to connect to a global pool of education and training resources. The CKLN is a regional initiative aimed at improving regional information technology connectivity in order to create more distance learning opportunities and more access to information.
