CUBA-GRENADA JOINT COMMISSION OPENS IN HAVANA  
Havana, May 16 (Prensa Latina) Cuba´s Foreign Investment and Cooperation Minister, Marta Loma, welcomed Monday Grenada´s minister of National Security and Development of Trade and Private Sector Einstein Louison to discuss business and collaboration. The two ministers opened 8th Session of the Joint Economic Commission that will run until Wednesday at the headquarters of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Investment and Cooperation (MINVEC). The two sides will be evaluating financing matters and issues of economic and social impact. The economic discussion has been extolled as a new phase in the 26 years of cooperation between the two countries. Louison said his country highly praised relations with the Cuban government and people, given its historic solidarity and assistance provided following the passage of Hurricane Ivan in September 2004. Despite pressures, relations with Havana are excellent and satisfactory, allowing developing fields such as health, infrastructure and human resources, stated the top Caribbean official. He noted the commission may endorse bilateral culture and tourism agreements and projects, and the fight against drugs. In the international arena, Granada, as a member of the Caribbean Community has supported the Cuban candidacy to occupy posts in the UN and the World Labor Organization. Meanwhile, MINVEC Minister Marta Lomas highlighted integration and the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas, whose economic and political importance for the region is decisive, she said.
