On May 16 2005, the Embassy of Grenada, in Washington D.C., hosted a welcome reception in honour of His Excellency Ambassador Zhou Wenzhong, the newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the United States and Permanent Representative of China to the Organization of American States (OAS). Guests in attendance included members of the caucus of CARICOM Ambassadors in Washington, D.C., Permanent Representatives to the OAS and other members of the diplomatic community. During his welcoming remarks, His Excellency Ambassador Denis G. Antoine emphasized the importance the Government of Grenada places on its renewed diplomatic relations with the Government and people of China, and highlighted China’s role as an engine of economic growth and development in the global economy. Ambassador Zhou Wenzhong thanked the Embassy for a very warm welcome to Washington, and expressed the government of China’s desire to deepen its diplomatic and technical cooperation partnerships within the hemisphere through its engagement at the OAS, specifically in the areas of women, children, technology and information sharing. Ambassador Zhou Wenzhong has served in many high level diplomatic postings including Ambassador of China to Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda and the Commonwealth of Australia.
