Ministry of Communication, Works and Transport continues work on Lowthers Lane which was closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday and Sunday May 21 and 22, 2005. This closure was necessary to facilitate repair work on the road which was broken on Tuesday. Remedial work commenced on Wednesday May 18 on the road, stones are being used to create a back fill which will extend the road way. The Ministry advises that all heavyweight vehicles refrain from using the Lowther’s Lane road, other lightweight vehicles can use the route only if absolutely necessary. The Ministry of Works engineers have concluded that the road breakage is as a result of excavation work carried out in the area by a private developer, resulting in the destabilization of the road and the retaining wall.
