The Ministry of Works and the Government in general have received numerous complaints about late payment from daily paid workers, contractors and service deliverers hired by the Ministry. These complaints this morning led Prime Minister Dr. The Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell to meet with the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works, Crispin Frederick and other senior staff in the Ministry to discuss and address this matter.
Prime Minister Mitchell pointed out that it is not a lack of resources that is leading to the late payment of workers. The Prime Minister has asked that all efforts be made to ensure that all outstanding payments are made immediately and that the administrative system be made more efficient so that these problems do not recur.
