GRENADA'S FOREIGN MINISTER ADDRESSES OAS ASSEMBLY  
Grenada's Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Elvin Nimrod, addressed a special meeting of Foreign Ministers at the OAS General Assembly in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Speaking to the Ministers convened by the host of the meeting, U.S. Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice, Nimrod expressed his gratitude to the community of democracies of the hemisphere. Mr. Nimrod said "Grenada thanks all of you for coming to our rescue during its time of crisis, however, said the Minister I want to go on record to mention our closest neighbours CARICOM for the manner in which they reached out to Grenada. I also express our gratitude to the USA, Canada, and all other member states off the OAS for their demonstration of concern and support. However, I wish to tell you that our needs are long term, and we look forward to your engagement and continued partnership to achieve our goal of building back a better country." The Minister called on the OAS for more investment in people, the creation of jobs, and he joined the rest of his CARICOM colleagues in their call to the OAS for skills training and programs for the empowerment pf people. The OAS thirty-fifth General Assembly began on June 5, and will end on June 7, 2005. The main theme of the dialogue of the General Assembly is "Delivering the Benefits of Democracy.” Grenada's delegation to the Assembly comprises of The Honourable Elvin Nimrod head of delegation and Ambassador Denis G.
