GRENADA GOVERNMENT MAKING EDUCATION A PRIORITY  
The Government of Grenada is allocating more money for the reconstruction of schools which were damaged during the passage of Hurricane Ivan in 2004. A number of schools are presently under reconstruction with help from friendly governments and organizations, while others have already been completed. According to the Ministry of Education, government is redoubling its efforts to ensure that the reconstruction process is speeded up. In the Praish of St. George, funding has already been secured for 25 schools in the St. George’s area, including the TA Marryshow Community College on which work is expected to begin in August. The reconstruction of some Pre-primary schools in St. George’s area has begun. Woburn pre-primary and infant schools, as well as the Beaulieu, Boca, Vendomme and Marian Pre-primary have already been completed, while work is soon to begin on the Springs, Happy Hill, and Mt. Moritz, Pre-schools. The Grand Anse and Morne Jaloux R.C. Schools are carded to be completed this month, while reconstruction work is expected to begin on the Happy Hill RC, Constantine Methodist, the School for the Hearing Impaired, South St. George Government and St. Louis Girls RC .The rebuilding process for Calliste Government and Mt. Moritz Anglican will begin in July. Funding has already been secured for Seven Secondary Schools in St. George’s. Work will commence in July on St. Joseph’s Convent, P.B.C and Wesley College; while rebuilding efforts on GBSS, Anglican High, Boca and TAMCC will begin in August. Work on the Happy Hill Secondary will start in September. The Ministry of Education is confident that most of the schools in the St. George’s area will be in good shape for the start of the new school year in September 2005. Parents can be assured that their children will be able to study and learn in a much more comfortable environment than before with "Rebuilding Better" as the watchword.
