GRENADA TO PARTICIPATE IN WORLD HARMONY RUN
The Ministry of Sports, Community Development and Co-operatives is in the process of coordinating Grenada’s participation in the World Harmony Run on WEDNESDAY 15TH JUNE, 2005. The World Harmony Run is a global torch relay that seeks to promote international friendship and understanding. This year an international team of runners will carry a flaming torch, symbolising the aspiration of human oneness, through more than 70 countries around the globe and including the Caribbean for the first time. Past participants in the Harmony Run include Mother Teresa, Heads of State such as President Nelson Mandela, Olympic athletes like Carl Lewis, Nobel Laureates and community leaders. For Grenada’s participation we have selected a route from Point Salines Airport through to Belmont, Springs, Botanical Gardens, Archibald Avenue, Lucas Street, Town of St. George, the Carenage and Tanteen Playing Field. Participation in Grenada will include Government officials, Members of Parliament, schools, sporting associations, Grenada Council for the Disabled, the business community, youth and community groups, athletes and non-athletes. The activity starts at 9.00 a.m. at the Point Salines Airport and concludes with a closing ceremony and cultural event at Tanteen Playing Field at approximately 11.30 a.m. A special invitation is extended to the general public to join us in this activity.
