Citing the enormous benefit it will bring, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is recommending Grenada to directly link its agricultural industry to the tourism industry. Prakash Loungani, the mission chief for the team that recently conducted Article IV Consultation in Grenada, said there is plenty of room to strengthen the linkage between agriculture and tourism, which will remain the mainstay of the economy. The relationship between both industries has been the topic of many seminars, conferences, workshop and initiatives. The most recent is the setting up of an environmental Waste Plant for the Grenada Cooperative Nutmeg Association (GCNA) and that project appears to be the one that result in at least one successful product. Grenada is currently the worldīs largest producer of nutmeg. It is the only spice symbol on Grenadaīs national flag and it is often referred to as the islandīs black gold.
