The Ministry of Social Development is continuing with efforts to develop a National Gender Policy. On Thursday June 9, 2005, the Ministry of Social Development conducted a round table discussion aimed at gathering information that will assist the Caribbean Development Bank in determining feasibility, scope of task and other information relative to the current situation in Grenada, in regard to the Ministries efforts to develop a National Gender Policy. The National Gender Policy will guide the programmes and projects of Government Ministries, Non-Governmental Organizations and the Private Sector in brining about gender equality and equity in all areas of planning for national development. The Caribbean Development Bank was represented at Thursday’s meeting by Denise Noel-De Bique Consultant Gender Specialist. Also present at the meeting were Permanent Secretaries from the Ministries of Social Development, Communication and Works and Finance, members from the Agency for Reconstruction and Development (ARD), the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) and the Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF).
