GRENADA GOVERNMENT WARNS AGAINST SQUATTING ON CROWN LAN...
The Government of Grenada Crown lands Anti- Squatting Unit is appealing to persons (especially in St. George’s, the limes and Morne Rouge areas) who are attempting to or planning to build on Crown lands to STOP. Unless they have written permission from the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands signed by the Permanent Secretary authorizing them to build they cannot do so. Failure to comply means that houses and other buildings will be subject to immediate demolition, with assistance from the Royal Grenada Police Force. In spite of several notices issued by Government advising persons that the practice of squatting on Crown lands is illegal and that they should discontinue, many people are not heeding the warning and continue to squat. Public Officers are currently in the field talking to persons and are monitoring the situation and, where necessary, theses persons will be move. Anyone in future found squatting on Crown lands will be moved immediately without notice. The public is further advised that the Physical Planning Unit has prepared a demolition schedule and will be removing illegal structures across the country every month.
