DRUG CONTROL COMMUNITY PROGRAMME
Wednesday June 22, 2005, St. George’s: The Drug Control Secretariat, in collaboration with the Youth Department, will conduct a Community Outreach Programme, under the Drug Demand Reduction Project, in July 2005, in the parishes of St. George’s, St. David’s, and St. Andrew’s. The objective of the programme is to inform the general public, particularly young people, about the dangers of drug abuse. One of the components of the programme is a training programme for fifteen (15) youth and community leaders, in the Methodology of Participatory Education in Drug Abuse Prevention, so that they can visit various communities in the three (3) parishes stated above, to conduct relevant and culturally appropriate drug prevention programmes in the community. This training will be held 27 to 30 June 2005. These trainees will be assigned to various communities to conduct drug prevention sessions and to distribute posters, brochures and pamphlets to distribute in selected communities. Contact person for the Community Outreach Programme is Mr. Arthur Pierre of the Drug Control Secretariat. The Drug Demand Reduction Project is funded by the European Union and the Government of Grenada. Drug Control Secretariat Ministry of Education
