MORE THAN 5.400 GRENADIANS HAVE RECEIVED GOVERNMENT HEL...  
The Ministry of Housing is reaching out to the needy persons in Grenada. Over 5,400 families have benefited from the three main programs implemented by the Emergency Housing Committee geared towards the reconstruction of Grenada in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan. The three programs are: 1.The material assistance program: To date over 5,000 families have benefited from this programme. Under the Material Assistance Program persons receive up to EC$5,000 worth of materials free from Government to repair their houses that were damaged by Hurricane Ivan. 2. House construction for persons in the most vulnerable category: As of June 20th Government had given houses to 260 of the most Vulnerable families. And a further 85 are under construction. 3. The Post Hurricane Ivan Soft Loan Scheme: To date 148 families have received disbursement under this programme to the Sum of EC$4.3 million. The Soft Loan Scheme provides a maximum loan amount of EC $ 40,000, at an interest rate of 3%, a repayment period of 10 years with and optional grace period of 1 year.
