GRENADA'S JASON ROBERTS READIES FOR 2005/6 SEASON
LONDON, England: Grenadian international striker Jason Roberts and his newly-promoted Wigan Athletic team will start their English Premier League campaign at home to defending champions Chelsea on the opening day of the 2005/6 season, which kicks off August 13. Roberts, who broke his leg in the final match of the regular season, is making good progress in his recovery and he said playing Chelsea will be tough but they knew it was going to come when they got promoted. "It's a hard game but when we got promoted we knew that's what we were getting ourselves in for," Roberts told Sky Sports News. "They are the champions but at least we're at home," he added. When asked about his match up with Chelsea’s top defender John Terry, Roberts said it not all about him. "I've played against Terry before. He's a very good player but it's not just about me, it's about making sure we're playing in the Premier League next season and the season after that.” Wigan has already had their fixtures rearranged, as their August 24th away game against league-giants Manchester United has been pushed back accommodate United’s champion's league fixture. The Grenadian said he was seeing progress on his leg and he just has to continue seeing the physio while staying at rest. "It's moving forward really well, there's not a lot you can do with a broken leg except rest it and that's what I've done. Reprinted from Caribbean Net News caribbeannetnews.com
