St. George’s: The essence of Caribbean Unity continues to be demonstrated as countries continue to come to Grenada’s aid, post Hurricane Ivan. The Ministry of Education and Labour this morning received a cheque in the amount of US$12,000.00 toward the rehabilitation of Grenada’s schools from our brothers and sisters in the British Virgin Island. Managing Director of VI Broadcasting Co. Ltd, Mr. Meritt Herbert, said that this is the second contribution that they are making towards Grenada’s rehabilitation effort. In March a total of $20,000.00 US dollars was presented to the Ministry of Health to aid in its rehabilitation drive. On presenting the cheque to Minister of Education and Labour Hon. Claris Charles, Mr. Herbert said that the contribution comes from the heart and soul of the British Virgin Islands Community, and that it is their desire to see the funds used to assist in the refurbishing of supplies for the school children of Grenada. On accepting the gift, Minister Charles, expressed on behalf of the Government and people of Grenada, her sincere appreciation for the generous act of love and unity demonstrated by the people of the British Virgin Islands.
