PRIME MINISTER MITCHELL MEETS WITH CHINESE DELEGATION  
Prime Minister, Dr. the Rt. Honourable Keith Mitchell met on Thursday June 30, 2005 with a seven-member delegation from the Republic of China headed by his Excellency Qin Huasun. Discussions focussed on the U.N. summit scheduled for September 2005, and China’s recommitment to the Reconstruction effort in Grenada. Prime Minister Mitchell conveyed to the delegation Grenada’s deep appreciation for China’s commitment to aiding in Grenada’s overall rehabilitation. Dr. Mitchell will lead a nine-man delegation to the People’s Republic of China from July 7-11, 2005. The purpose of the trip is to finalize agreements as well as negotiate with the government of China on new proposals including budgetary support for Grenada. The delegation will include, Sen. Adrian Mitchell, Minister of Sports, Community Development and Cooperative; Mr. Lennox Andrews, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Finance and Planning; Mr. Barry Collymore, Press Secretary & Sport Policy Advisor, Mr. Raphael Joseph, Foreign Service Officer; and Mr. Kenny Lalsing, and Dr. Winston Mitchell, Private Sector Representatives . Prime Minister Mitchell said that he looks forward to the finalisation of proposals for housing development, and the construction of the National Stadium in time for World Cup 2007. The Prime Minister also believes that of particular importance to Grenada is the establishment of ties between the private sectors of both countries.
