NEW CRUISE LINE FOR GRENADA?
A new cruise line company is very enthusiastic about Grenada becoming one of their scheduled destinations for the next tourist season. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Adrian Hayes, met with marine director for Easy Cruise.com Mr. David Lynn to discuss the possibility of the Easy Cruise line coming to Grenada’s shores in the next season. EasyCruise.com is one of the latest ventures launched by Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the owner of Easy Jet PLC which is the largest low cost airline in Europe. Mr. Lynn told Mr. Hayes that Easy Cruise offered a unique holiday experience He said unlike traditional cruising the ship stays in port in the afternoon and the evenings to encourage people to have fun ashore and then sails in the early hours of each morning to the next destination. This flexible one week cruise will allow passengers to embark and depart from any port on the route. The Permanent Secretary expressed great interest in this venture and welcomed this new concept of cruising to Grenada. P.S. Hayes stated that this new addition will be beneficial to Grenada’s cruise industry as it will give cruise tourist more options. Presently EasyCruise.com is operating in Europe and scheduled to start selling their travel packages to the region in July. East Cruise will sail from Barbados to other islands on November 12th.
