GRENADIANS URGED TO SUPPORT EMANCIPATION CELEBRATIONS
The Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Grenada Cultural Foundation is very proud to be associated with the emancipation celebrations this year. At a press conference held earlier this week with Mrs. Jocelyn Sylvester Gairy Chairman of the Grenada Cultural Foundation and Miss Pat Walcott who spoke to the media on the importance of emancipation in Grenada’s history highlighted the activities for Grenada’s emancipation anniversary for 2005. The GCF has organized a program of activities for the rest of the week and the up coming weekend. Some of which are church services, a radio quiz which was organized by students of TAMCC, interviews with local historians, elderly Grenadians along with a local librarian (both TV and radio). The final celebrations will take place at the Pedestrian Plaza on the Carenage St George’s from 6:00 p.m. Students from the Sports Department, Marryshow College bearing flambeau torches will assemble at both ends of the Carenage and walk to meet each other at the middle of the Pedestrian Plaza. This procession will be accompanied by African drumming The Ministry and GCF are appealing to the general public to come out and support as many of the activities as possible.
