OECS TEAM MAKES REPORT TO CABINET
The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States assessment team today made a presentation to Cabinet on the impact of Emily. The assessment was preliminary, and focussed on both the direct and indirect costs of damage to Grenada by Hurricane Emily. This presentation highlighted significant damage to housing and agriculture as well as to Grenada’s infrastructure. Because of the tremendous damage done to farms, roads and bridges by Emily, the assessment is still not complete and the OECS team is continuing to compile information on damage from right across Grenada. Cabinet welcomed the report and pointed out a few areas where more work needed to be done. A more detailed and definitive report is being worked on and will be made available as soon as all of the assessment is completed. Hurricane Emily hit Grenada on July 13 as a category one Hurricane causing heavy winds, severe rainfall, flooding and landslides. Source: Office of the Prime Minister
