PRIME MINISTER MITCHELL COMMENDS THE POLICE WELFARE INI...
Prime Minister Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell met this morning with three members of the Police Welfare Committee. The committee members who met with the Prime Minister were Corporal Linford Cummings, Sgt. Carl Cabon, and Constable Randy Dick. The Welfare Committee is aiming to establish a special fund which will allow police officers who sustained damage to their homes as a result of Hurricane’s Ivan and Emily, to be able to access much needed loans to assist with repairs. The Prime Minister was high in praise of the Police Welfare Scheme, and commended the officers for using their own initiative to establish such a programme. Dr. Mitchell says that he will recommend to Cabinet that Government provide a guarantee for the loans. The Prime Minister also suggested that other groups should mirror the example displayed by the police to secure funding for themselves. Source: Office of the Prime Minister
